For some time now I have been wondering about the reasons behind the western attacks on Libya. Don’t get me wrong, Gaddafi is as mad as a mad hatter that has gone mad. But, why now? And why did France, of all countries take the lead.
Some of the reasons may include “revenge” for the Lockerbie bombing, but as has been documented by (and ignored) Private Eye, the evidence points to Iran, not Libya.
Another source could be allowing France/ EU to display its latest combat aircraft, the Euro fighter, which has just been shortlisted by India for its first export order. This may explain why the US is only involved by displaying its prime export item, unmanned Drones.
Oil is too obvious but another interesting angle has been a huge aquifer beneath the Libyan desert.
One of the most startling events during the whole affair has been the speed with which western banks helped the rebels set up their own central bank.
We can now add to the list, money. Gaddafi was apparently in the process of creating his own gold standard with a golden dinar. See about 7 minutes into the clip below.
